Day 3: 🚶♂️Walkin' Boston
Day 3: 🚶♂️Walkin' Boston
What?! There Was a Map!
When we headed out this morning, we stopped by the campground office to get a tag since they didn't seem to have things ready for us last night. Well, wouldn't ya' know what Meagan found?! A welcome map and our tags that were there… since last night. Had we had and followed the map, boy it would have been super easy to navigate to our campsite last night.
Lovin' Bostin
We parked in a garage downtown to take public transportation around town. We absolutely love to visit cities with a subway and bus system.
As the morning progressed, it got a bit busier, but was nothing I'd call crowded. Boston feels like a smaller, safer, cleaner version of New York with grand historical significance.
Maum Market & "Breakfast"
Before we headed to our first planned stop for the day, we happened upon the Maum Market.
Even better, we found Union Square Donuts… and they had a Fluffernutter donut. Oh baby: marshmallow and peanut butter. What a start to the morning!
Museum of Ice Cream
And for my first surprise stop of the day, Meagan scheduled us to visit the Museum of Ice Cream. Of course it was a kitschy excuse to eat ice cream, but it was almost educational and mostly fun.
The museum was organized into fun sections.
Today, I met my accidental, culinary hero.
Around Town a Bit
Afterwards, we walked to the pier and stopped by The Lawn on D where Meagan got her Taylor Swift vibe on.
We took a bus to Boston Common to see the State Building
Freedom Trail
From there, we started the The Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile walking path marked by a red line on the sidewalk that connects 16 historic sites important to the American Revolution and early U.S. history.
1. Boston Common
2. Massachusetts State House
3. Park Street Church
4. Granary Burying Ground
5. King's Chapel and King's Chapel Burying Ground
6. Boston Latin School Site/Statue of Benjamin Franklin
7. Old Corner Bookstore
Yeah, missed that one, but I do remember some guy saying, "There's chuh-poh-tal." Here's the one from Wikipedia.
8. Old South Meeting House
9. Old State House
Must have missed that …
10. Boston Massacre Site
And that one too 🫢
11. Faneuil Hall
12. Paul Revere House
13. Old North Church
14. Copp's Hill Burying Ground
Meagan was tired of seeing dead people and we absolutely walked right by it with a shared, "nah."
15. USS Constitution
16. Bunker Hill Monument
To Dinner
We were pretty worn out after that. My watch showed that I walked over 20,000 steps. We headed to the subway, but were excited to see Ziggy's in Boston! That's where Raven works ☕
Meagan found us a great Italian place for supper with plenty of leftovers.
